202003102359The Third Prenatal Exam
Crowded clinic. Long wait with an uncomfortable face mask. Yes, it was the third prenatal exam for my pregnant wife, and my job was to keep her company. I felt I was drifting into sleep, and then the nurse called. First she received a blood pressure test, and then we walked into the doctor’s room, where another vaginal ultrasound probing session awaited her.
The baby was alright, and the doctor said estimated date of delivery remained the same. It was also a great chance for my wife to vent her worries on a professional who has been dealing with pregnancy anxieties for decades. I was listening for most of the time. It seemed to me there were a lot of upcoming tests and exams lying ahead of us, but she wouldn’t be taking them all, I think.
Just glad everything is okay.
