萬 仞 宮 牆 [16:20] 

 

在靜謐的海平面一端 

朝陽緩緩上升 

大地上的子民已經準備好

迎接這清晨的朝陽 

望著這一爿萬仞宮牆 

彷彿隱隱約約在空氣中

聽到了學子朗朗地讀經聲 

一句句在耳畔迴盪……

 

先師彰明禮義

覺潤化成斯民於無形

通過禮之門、義之路

使人人皆有以實現自我

完成生命的意義

 

 

子曰:「學而時習之,不亦說乎?有朋自遠方來,不亦樂乎?人不知而不慍,不亦君子乎?」 (學1) 

The Master said, is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application?

Is it not delightful to have friends coming from distant quarters?

Is he not a man of complete virtue,who feels no discomposure though men may take no note of him?  

 

子曰:「賜也,女以予為多學而識之者與?」對曰:「然,非與?」曰:「非也,予一以貫之。」 (衞2) 

 

The Master said, 'Ts'ze, you think, I suppose, that I am one who learns many things and keeps them in memory?'

 

Tsze-kung replied, 'Yes,-- but perhaps it is not so?' 

 

 'No,' was the answer; 'I seek a unity all-pervading.'  

 

子貢曰:「譬之宮牆,賜之牆也及肩,窺見室家之好。夫子之牆數仞,不得其門而入,不見宗廟之美,百官之富。得其門者或寡矣。」 23 

Tsze- kung, who said, 'Let me use the comparison of a house and its encompassing wall. My wall only reaches to the shoulders. One may peep over it, and see whatever is valuable in the apartments.

'The wall of my Master is several fathoms high. If one do not find the door and enter by it, he cannot see the ancestral temple with its beauties, nor all the officers in their rich array.

'But I may assume that they are few who find the door. Was not the observation of the chief only what might have been expected?'  

The Master said, is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application?
