Analysis the Structure of “The Jewelry”

This is a good short story. At the first you may think this story is dull but continuing to reading it is getting interesting in the story.

Introduction- the time may in 19^th because M. Lantin’s salary is “3,500 francs a year”, the place is Paris, the leading character of the story is  Lantin who is a chief clerk in the office of the Minister of the Interior. He is the typical bourgeois family. He married to  Lantin who is a gracious and beauty. She is “every young man dreams of entrusting his future.”  Lantin loves her “more than he did the first day”. The Situation is his wife is dead. He is immersed in his sadness. Rising action- He sole the jewelry. All the time his salary had been arranged by his wife. Now he is spent all his money he could not afford to his life. Therefore he thought of selling something. He immediately thought his wife’s “stock”. Climax- The jewelry is true. He thought that false jewelry may be worthy six or eight francs however it could sales between twenty-five thousand francs and the jewelry sole the same store that he wants to sale. He could not understand because his salary could not afford it. Falling action- He realized the jewelry is a present. He couldn’t believe that. His head is blank and he wants to find the reason. Suddenly, he realizes that all the jewelries are the “present”. His heart had broken and he sales the all jewelry. Conclusion- He sole the all jewelry became a richman. His life gradually tends to normal. Conflict- M. Lantin and jewelry. M. Lantin has been disliked his wife’s false jewelry and all the jewelry actually are the gift for his wife from somebody. Anticlimax- M. Lantin married again. M. Lantin thought that his life is full of the hypocritical. He thought the jewelry is false however it is true and he thought he has a wonderful marriage actually it is false. Therefore, he married to his second wife who is “upright”, she made his life miserable. It may imply he has another different life from his first marriage and may be another story has begun.

The Jewelry 是我們的第一篇報告, Jose老師竟然給我95分真是嚇了我一跳,我想其實是老師不想讓我們挫折感太大所以就改的比鬆,所以我非常感謝 Jose老師,希望還有機會可以在繼續上他的課.
